Islamic Tradition of Wearing Turban

In the Name of Allah Most Merciful Most Beneficent
Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon the Prophet Muhammad his Noble Family and Companions
Peace be upon all the Prophets and Messenger of Allah Almighty Exalted

Wearing Turban on head (head covering) is a tradition of the Prophets and Saints of Allah. This tradition is continued in the way of the Final Prophet (Nabi Muhammad alaihiswalathu wa salam). When so many religions and sects embraced non-Prophetic traditions and life styles and deviated from the straight path, traditional Islam insist on practising the traditions established by the Prophets. You can still witness the traces of wearing turbans in all cultures, though it exist in some communities and groups. Because those cultures and traditions have retained some traditions of the Prophets in the past. Some religions and groups kept some of the lifestyle of the Prophets but left their Faith and Law. Some others left the lifestyle of the Prophets and kept the Faith and pick and choose the laws that fit to their ego!

For example , people in these days so concerned about halal meat and food (Lawful dietary) but have less or no concern about  paying Zakat (Obligatory charity) correctly thus indirectly eating non-Halal (Unlawful)!. Muslims are more concerned about contracting  sophisticated Masjid everywhere (Places of worship) and not really concerned about working towards purification of the heart! Unfortunately this is how the 21st century Islam moving today!

Muslims are also opening their places of worship for vain talks but not opening their doors for Zikr and Prayer circles!. So many Imams and scholars wearing the executive dress of missionaries like Jehova's Witness and are not concerned about Islamic dress code while preaching and teaching!

Below are the narrations in Islamic sources regarding wearing Turbans:

Jabir b. 'Abdullah al-Ansari (Allah be pleased with them) reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) entered Mecca and Qutaiba (another narrator) stated that he entered Mecca in the Year of Victory, wearing a black turban, but not wearing the Ihram. (Sahih Muslim Book 7, Hadith 3146)

Narrated Ali ibn Rukanah: Ali quoting his father said: Rukanah wrestled with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) threw him on the ground. Rukanah said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: The difference between us and the polytheists is that we wear turbans over caps. (Sunan Abu Dawood Book 32, Hadith 4067)

There are so many other narrations on Wearing Turban as part of other topics related to faith and religion.

In the Jewish Bible too we can find that Wearing Turban was a Tradition of the Prophets .

Exodus 28:37, 28:39 ,Leviticus 8:9, Ezekiel 24:17, Zechariah 3:5  etc

We can witness and understand that the traditional Islam is the only legitimate heirs to the way of the Prophets. We can also witness that in the New Testament wearing head cover is abolished by Paul the Apostle of Christianity!

1 Corinthians 11:4 Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head.
1 Corinthians 11:7 A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man.

God Almighty commands all the Prophets to cover their head and to wear turban on their head, but apostle Paul was commanding against the command of God Almighty Exalted. This is one of the many reasons Muslims fundamentally differ with Christianity. Islam embrace Christ and his Gospel and reject teachings of the authors of the New Testament which contradict with the Law and Tradition of the Prophets!

Peace be upon the Prophets of Allah

Praise be to Allah the LORD of all Creations
